We are blessed to have Ruthe’s parents, Rett and Sherrill Bragg with us for a couple weeks. The kids really missed grandma and grandpa and are enjoying spending time with them, getting ready for the Christmas holiday. We had a great Thanksgiving day, with an awesome meal. The next day they started putting up our Christmas tree!

What an incredible (and incredibly hot) summer we have been having! We have seen temperatures up to 116 degrees here in central Tx… Thank God for A.C. and hoses in the back yard!

We are so excited to have new supporters who are going about it in a little different way: as ranchers, they have partnered with us by designating one or more of their cows’ offspring as thier gift to missions. They have linked up with STEER, Inc, who partners with Wycliffe as well as many other organizations. The calves, when sold at market, bring a profit which goes to the missionaries of their choice, or in this case, our family!

We praise God for this precious couple, who have actually been on four mission trips themselves to PNG! They have such an enormous heart for PNG and we love having them partner with us. Our kids loved spending the afternoon getting a tour of what it’s like to run a ranch!

We haven’t come up with a name yet for our first calf. We will update you….

Happy Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend! Friday we had some new friends over for Pizza and Ice cream sundaes, Saturday we visited the Salado creek for the first time and grilled out with the Housewrights. We have been trying to focus on our Savior’s death and resurrection and not so much on the Easter Bunny this year. Micah still managed to shout out, “look what the Easter bunny brought me!” The older kids promptly tried to shush him up and explain to him who really gave it to him. He then kept chatting through out the day how Jesus died on the cross and I tried to add on that Jesus arose, too, don’t forget. Anyways, it was a special Sunday. We had a wonderful time of worship on Sunday and then the kids got to hunt for eggs and jump on an inflatable trampoline. We came home to a turkey in the oven and the kids wanted to know why we were having Thanksgiving at Easter. lol Needless to say we were happily worn out by Monday. Hope you all had a fun and special weekend as well.

Merry Christmas from the Reids!

Thanksgiving has come and gone, and was a wonderful time with Ruthe’s parents here with us. We get a couple more weeks with them, and then we are driving to North Carolina to spend Christmas with my parents, Rich and Judy Reid. The kids are very excited to see nani and papa again and their uncle Robbie and aunt Tiffani, and their cousins Elijah and Jordan. After that, we are driving to Kansas to spend New Year with Ruthe’s sisters and their families.

So we have a very busy holiday season coming up, and undoubtedly you do as well. We love this time of year, of celebrating the coming of our Lord Jesus. We pray that you all have a very special time with your families.

Please don’t stop praying for our support to continue coming in. We are at about 37% of our needed 100%. On this trip we will be visiting a supporting church in Marietta, Ga, and are praying for opportunities to get to know many of the families there that we don’t know yet. We are also praying for new opportunities to arise on this trip, to speak in homes and or churches.

Fall is finally here!

We are very happy that fall is here and it is starting to cool off! We had a great summer, and now homeschool is back in full swing. Our next family newsletter is on it’s way soon! This one will have a one on one interview with Julianna.

Yowza It’s HOT here in Texas!

This has been a very eventful summer so far. We have been busy with baseball, swimming, the occasional emergency room visits, visiting with friends and so forth. It has been a good break from homeschool and Ruthe is starting to get ready to begin school in August. Julianna can’t wait to be in kindergarden!

But we have also enjoyed making several new friendships lately! The Lord has brought many new people into our lives that just simply can not be random. Rich has started going to a weekly Bible study after being invited by a couple who we met at our garage sale. At the Bible study, Rich met several men who are completely on fire for the Lord and left very encouraged!

We have had a bit of an adventure with our newest family additions, our 4 bunnies. Goldilocks is a good mother, but her babies are eager to escape their cage and one of them does almost every night. Ruthe and I then get to hunt for it in the yard in the morning. Well, the other day we had one run off and we were not able to find it. The kids were so upset and worried about “rascal”. A day later we still had not found him, even after looking in the neighbors yards. I was about to put together a lost bunny poster, but tonight our little lost rabbit came hopping home! Jules and Seth are the heroes now since they spotted him in the back yard trying to get back into his cage. I guess he missed his yummy alfalfa and his water bowl.

We are thankful for all of your prayers as we are working towards going to Papua New Guinea. We are grateful that a church that Rich has childhood ties to has chosen to partner with us; bringing our support level to 25%. We have several prospective churches in our area that we are hoping to be able to share with soon. We are really praying for our support to reach a level that will enable us to leave this year for Waxhaw, NC, where Rich will have his helicopter orientation course and we will both take the Cross Cultural Communications course. Please join us in praying for that!

Partnership development update: June 1

We are continuing to trust God for opportunities to speak in churches in the local area (central TX), or anywhere! Thank you for praying with us.
We are currently at 23% of our required support. We need to have 100% pledged or coming in prior to departing for Papua New Guinea.
We will have one time financial needs as well, for airfare to PNG, and for purchases of a house and vehicle once there.
We have unlimited openings for prayer partners as well! If this is a way you would like to be involved, let us know!
